BAILEY, GENERAL MANAGER ISSUE Board approval is required to retire a Board policy. BACKGROUND As a result of the biennial review of BP 002 - Diversity Statement, staff is recommending to retire this policy. This policy was originally developed before the District formally began its exploration of diversity, equity, and inclusion around three years ago. Recently, similar language was incorporated into the District's Mission, Vision, and Values statement, which not only supersedes BP 002 - Diversity Statement, but also provides greater specificity. To prevent redundancy and ensure a consistent narrative, staff recommends retiring BP 002 - Diversity Statement. ALTERNATIVES/CONSIDERATIONS The Board may choose not to retire this policy or direct staff to make additional revisions and keep the policy. FINANCIAL IMPACTS None.
