Kelly, eneral Manager ISSUE: All work has been completed on the A-Line Relief Interceptor, Phase 2A, District Project 5980, and this project can now be closed out. RECOMMENDATION: Close out the project. FINANCIAL IMPACTS: This closeout will result in approximately $990,000 being returned to the Collection System Program: Attachment 1 shows the project expenditures by category. ALTERNATIVES/CONSIDERATIONS: Not applicable. BACKGROUND: The A-Line Relief Interceptor, Phase 2A, is a joint project with the City of Concord. The proposed project consists of two components: 1) construction of approximately 3,100 linear feet of 96-inch diameter concrete sewer pipe (the A-Line Relief Interceptor) and 2) construction of approximately 1,455 linear feet of 48-and 72-inch diameter pipelines from the Concord Pumping Station to the proposed A-Line Relief Interceptor pipeline at the Meridian Park Boulevard/Galaxy Way intersection, including parallel 48-inch diameter gravity flow sewer pipelines crossing beneath the Walnut Creek Channel for approximately 400 feet to replace an existing force main. On October 18, 2007, the Board of Directors authorized the award of a construction contract for this work to Mountain Cascade, Inc. The Contractor was issued a Notice to Proceed that was effective February 18, 2008, with a completion date of September 18, 2009. The project was accepted by the Board on October 15, 2009. The original construction contract amount was $20,650,750. There were seventeen (17) construction change orders issued in the total amount of $(52). ADVISE THE BOARD OF THE CLOSEOUT OF THE A-LINE RELIEF INTERCEPTOR, PHASE 2A, DISTRICT PROJECT 5980 reduced the trucking cost of excavated material. The excavated material was used as fill on the District Plant. The total amount paid to the Contractor was $20,650,698. The total authorized budget for the project was $24,790,000, which included a contingency of $1,548,800. The total project cost was $23,800,000, which is approximately 4 percent less than the budgeted amount. The City of Concord reimbursed the District $7,909,095 for their portion of the gravity inter-tie project. The project closeout will result in $990,000 being returned to the Collection System Program (see Attachment 1 for Expenditure Summary).
