SUBJECT: PENSION BENEFITS AND EMPLOYEE RELATIONS CONFERENCE
Attached is information regarding an upcoming conference put on by the Howard Jarvis
Taxpayers Association entitled "Boot Camp for Elected Officials — Pension Benefits and
Employee Relations." This appears to offer some good information on pension
benefits, and several noteworthy speakers will be giving presentations. It is a one -day
conference on Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Irvine.
I recommend that you consider attending this conference as the District will be facing
many challenges in the upcoming year on this topic. If there is interest, I will need to
reschedule the February 17 Board Financial Planning Workshop to February 24, 2011.

Officials
Please forward this message to your local representatives with
county, city, water district, cemetery district, sanitation district, fire
district, park district, and vector control district and urge them to
attend this conference on public employee pensions on February
17th at the Irvine Hyatt Regency. It's targeted toward elected
officials and will provide unfiltered information and solid solutions
to assist governing board members in making the BEST decisions
in handling the fiscal crisis that is impacting agencies at every
