ISSUE
Board approval is required for both salary adjustments and reclassifications.
BACKGROUND
Currently, there are two Administrative Services Assistant positions that provide administrative support to
their assigned functions within the Administration Department as well as day-to-day support for the Deputy
General Manager -Administration. Staff is requesting to reclassify one of the positions and its incumbent to
an Administrative Services Supervisor which will then oversee the remaining Administrative Services
Assistant position.
Having one Administrative Services Supervisor position overseeing one Administrative Services Assistant
position would allow for more oversight and coordination of the required work which will result in more
efficient and effective support of the various functions (Finance, Purchasing, Communications and
Intergovernmental Relations, Information Technology, and Risk Management) within the Department.
Additionally, the supervisor position will also be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all District
wide events including but not limited to, Bring A Child To Work, Annual Employee Appreciation Event,
Service Awards Luncheon, and other related events. They will also be the designated back-up to the
Executive Assistant to the General Manager in order to support the General Manager in the case of her
absence(s).

ALTERNATIVES/CONSIDERATIONS
Do not approve the reclassification of one Administrative Services Assistant position to Administrative
Services Supervisor. If this action is not approved, the Administrative Department will not have the most
effective staffing structure and will not have a dedicated back-up to the Executive Assistant to the General
Manager or someone dedicated to overseeing the coordination of District wide events.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS
Approval of this reclassification will result in an annual cost of $12,765 including benefits at the maximum
step of the salary range (Attachment 1).
