General Manager Written Announcements June 15, 2023 Regular Board Meeting Agenda Packet - Page 87 of 93 Page 2 of 2 ATTACHMENT 1 Board Meeting of June 15, 2023 General Manager Written Announcements NATURAL GAS PURCHASE 1) Natural Gas Agreement to Purchase On December 2, 2021, the Board authorized the General Manager to agree to purchase natural gas through 2024 with a $7.00 per dekatherm limit. Staff has agreed to purchase 333 dekatherms per day at $5.49 per dekatherm for January of 2024 to December of 2024. This is the second agreed -to -purchase amount for 2024. PROJECT UPDATES 2) Project Bidding of Laboratory Floor Replacement District Project 100008 The Environmental Laboratory building (Lab) is located within the Martinez campus and is a critical and specialty facility used every day by staff for permitting and regulatory compliance. This project will replace the flooring which is beyond its useful life. The existing rubber flooring adhesive is failing, causing delamination throughout the Lab. The existing adhesive will be removed and a new moisture barrier and new flooring, with a warrantied life of 15 years, will be installed. To accomplish the project in a safe manner that minimizes disruptions to Lab staff, the floor replacement will be completed in multiple phases. This will better protect sensitive equipment and allow for equipment temporary relocation within the Lab, as needed. The Lab is not expected to be fully closed during the replacement work. This project will be advertised on June 26, 2023. The bid opening is scheduled on July 21, 2023. The Engineer's estimate is $250,000.
