BAILEY, GENERAL MANAGER SUBJECT: PRESENTATION BY SRI SHREYA ARUNSARAVANAKUMAR FROM DOUGHERTY VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL IN SAN RAMON, WINNER OF THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR - EXCELLENCE IN WATER, WASTEWATER AND RECYCLED WATER RESEARCH AWARD: FIRST TIER WINNER: "EXPLORING THE EFFECT OF CURCUMIN ON E. COLI GROWTH AS A TOOL TO BATTLE DIARRHEAL DISEASE IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES" The 2023 Contra Costa County Science and Engineering Fair took place on March 10, 2023 at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg. This was the tenth year that eleven Contra Costa County water and wastewater agencies combined efforts to create the Regional Excellence in Water, Wastewater and Recycled Water Research Awards. Central San staff members helped coordinate the event and judge the technical exhibit submissions. Within Central San's service area, the following award winners were named: First Tier: Srishreya Arunsaravanakumar Dougherty Valley High School, San Ramon. Project Title: "Exploring the Effect of Curcumin on E. coli Growth as a Tool to Battle Diarrheal Disease in Developing Countries" Prize: $250 Srishreya Arunsaravanakumar, who attends Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, will give a virtual presentation on their project at the meeting.
