BAILEY, GENERAL MANAGER SUBJECT: PRESENTATION BY ELLIE WANG, VAISHAVI SAHU & DRISHTI SANGHAVI FROM DOUGHERTY VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL IN SAN RAMON, WINNERS OF THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR - EXCELLENCE IN WATER, WASTEWATER AND RECYCLED WATER RESEARCH AWARD: • FIRST TIER WINNER: "TESTING ENCAPSULATED PODS AGAINST WATER POLLUTION AND PREVENTING HARMFUL ALGAL BLOOMS" The 2023 Contra Costa County Science and Engineering Fair took place on March 10, 2023 at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg. This was the tenth year that eleven Contra Costa County water and wastewater agencies combined efforts to create the Regional Excellence in Water, Wastewater and Recycled Water Research Awards. Central San staff members helped coordinate the event and judge the technical exhibit submissions. Within Central San's service area, the following award winners were named: First Tier: Ellie Wang, Vaishavi Sahu & Drishti Sanghavi Dougherty Valley High School, San Ramon. Project Title: "Testing Encapsulated Pods Against Water Pollution and Preventing Harmful Algal Blooms" Prize: $250 Ellie Wang, Vaishavi Sahu & Drishti Sanghavi, who all attend Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, will give a virtual presentation on their project at the meeting.
