Current or previous elected positions or experience with elected boards: I am currently on the board of Harmony Home Associated,a non-profit for mentaly disabled citizens. I have served on this board since 1996 in various capacities including president and secretary. I have also been on the board for the PTA/PTSA for Pleasant Hill Elementary, PH Middle School and College Park High School in various positions and capacities since 2011. b. Volunteer services or community participation: In addition to the non-profit boards I serve on, I am also involved in my church volunteer organization, and get involved helping my community. This includes helping/sometimes leading on Make a Difference Day over the last several years. c. Other group memberships and affiliations: I am an alumni of Health Wildcatters an incubator for Health Care startup companies. There are multiple professional organizations I have been involved with in the past including the Americal Chemical Society. She has a proven record of guiding innovation to ensure consumer value is incorporated in all aspects of product innovation while helping to ensure organization efforts are not wasted on non-value added work. Dr. Spillett's rare perspective was gained from holding various positions in product development, scale-up process development, competitive intelligence, supplier-brokering, technology acquisition,technology and patent planning,global product safety and regulatory compliance,traditional and new products brand marketing,marketing research,sales,and advertising across a wide range of product categories. She served in roles ranging from front- line/hands on roles to strategic planning and guidance roles within The Clorox Company. Dr. Spillett also served as a company change agent for innovation improvement by frequently creating and then fulfilling the lead role for new programs that contribute to consumer value added products.through innovation. These model programs have all been expanded and continue to be utilized as best practices. Dr. Spillett has attended numerous training courses and conferences covering multiple aspects of innovation. She is trained in Creative Problem Solving and Design Thinking. She has spoken at various forums on topics related to bringing consumer value and improving innovation. Dr. Spillett's guidance is utilized by large multi-national,mid-sized,and startup companies as well as by consulting funis. Dr. Spillett was born in Ecuador and raised around the globe. She graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Chemistry and earned a PhD in Chemistry from UC Santa Barbara. Additionally Dr. Spillett received an executive MBA from St.Mary's College. Dr. Spillett also utilizes her guidance expertise to serve select non-profit organizations. March 30, 2023 Special Board Meeting Agenda Packet- Page 84 of 101 Page 79 of 95 Reason for Interest as appointed board member of Central Contra Costa Sanitary District Dr. Cris Tina Spillett I am well qualified to serve as a dedicated board member of Central Contra Costa Sanitary District who will put the needs of the district in proper perspective to make the best organization it can possibly be. I am uniquely qualified on several fronts. I have a PhD in chemistry, an MBA,plus years of relevant experience in the consumer cleaning products industry. This experience, while relevant, is not a conflict of interest. Additionally, I have a good pulse on the communities served by CCCSD together with the business background to ensure customer needs and regulatory requirements are balanced with costs. I have a general understanding of the CCCSD facility and the technical expertise to understand what is going on at a fairly detailed level if necessary. Moreover, I also have a strong business background as well so that I have that perspective to apply to the business organization. Another unique perspective that I provide is understanding regulatory frameworks and how they influence organizations and can create challenges. With my background,network, and passion to build something phenomenal I believe I would be able to help CCCSD become a cost effective world class model. Through the Central San Academy I learned of the current operating environment and challenges CCCSD will be facing in the future. I would love to help ensure the organization will meet and thrive through these challenges. Lastly, I would love to help CCCSD get the best utilization possible of our valuable recycled water resource to help make an impact on the climate change facing everyone. I want to utilize my talents and help be a change agent to potentially expand the reach of recycled water and the valuable recycling program that CCCSD provides now. As a customer and community member I want to do my part to ensure CCCSD is poised for the future and is a strong player in keeping our community safe and green.
