SUBJECT: RECEIVE THE 2021 MUNICIPAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS ASSOCIATION
OF CALIFORNIA (MISAC) INNOVATION AWARD FOR CENTRAL SAN'S
75TH ANNIVERSARY EXPERIENCE WEBSITE
The Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MI SAC) Innovation Award recognizes
outstanding efforts and innovative solutions by an agency. It is rated on the following criteria:
• The impact of the problem/challenges and how well it is outlined
• The innovativeness of the solution
• The quality of the results achieved
Central San was awarded the MI SAC 2021 1 nnovation Award for its interactive 75th Anniversary
Experience which provides a 360-degree inside look at its wastewater treatment plant and other facilities,
plus videos, fun facts, and a learning hub with hands-on science activities for kids.
When the pandemic hit, rather than delay a traditional anniversary celebration, staff sprang into action and
came up with a virtual alternative. Using 360 degree imagery and a variety of multi-media capabilities, they
created an in-depth virtual tour of our facilities. The 75th Anniversary Virtual Experience was officially launched
on Central San's anniversary date - July 15, 2021 - and already has accumulated more than 2,500 page views,
as well overwhelmingly positive feedback from visitors:
"1 love how the landing page has people from different departments and even the student
education car there to greet you!And you can travel around so easily and learn so much ... This
is really something special!"
"Your virtual tour is awesome!l love that you can explore so many parts of Central San. 1 have
been spending lots of time on agency websites across the state and no one has anything like this
on their website. Not even close."
