By 2013, there were 13 collection sites in 11 communities in the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) service area. i2 1 September 13, 2021 REEP Committee Meeting Agenda Packet- Page 25 of 43 Page 3 of 5 COLLECTION TOTALS Through June 2021 , the program collected and properly disposed of a total of 149,600 pounds of medications at a cost of over $317,000. ' 3 NEW COLLECTION PROGRAMS IN SERVICE AREA In 2018, product stewardship organization MED-Project began a collection and disposal service consistent with the CCC Safe Drug Disposal Ordinance. Currently, MED-Project operates 32 collection sites in the HHW service area. Safeway operates 9 voluntary sites and Walgreens has 1 in the service area.
