PUBLIC OUTREACH
1) Virtual Central San Academy on April 21 and 22, 2021
The fifth session of Central San's citizens' academy, Central San Academy, was originally
scheduled to take place in spring 2020 but was canceled due to the pandemic. In lieu of
an in-person session, Central San is hosting its Spring 2021 Central San Academy as a
virtual event via Microsoft Teams. Past participants and applicants have been invited, and
32 new participants and 23 alumni have signed up thus far. A link to the online
registration form can be found at www.centralsan.org/academy. Board Members have
been sent appointment invitations should they like to attend. Staff is preparing an
engaging, high-level introduction to Central San and its services, including how it is
responding to COVID-19 and participating in wastewater epidemiology studies. The
session will both update the Academy alumni on recent activities and entice new
applicants to join the next in-person Academy.
HUMAN RESOURCES
2) Central San Welcomes New Internal Auditor Benjamin Johnson
We are pleased to announce that Benjamin Johnson has joined our team as Central
San's Internal Auditor. Benjamin has a career foundation in public accounting, where he
audited governmental and other clients. Subsequently, he served as the internal auditor
for a bank for over four years, conducting internal audits of various sizes and complexity.
He is a Certified Internal Auditor and member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Benjamin has a business administration degree from Sacramento State University, and
presently lives in Solano County with his family. He looks forward to further developing
the internal audit function at Central San and contributing to the agency's further
successes. We are excited that Benjamin has chosen Central San. Please join me in
extending our warmest welcome.
3) Central San Welcomes New Employee Robert "Drew" Hinkson
Drew Hinkson has joined the Environmental Compliance Division as an Environmental
Compliance Inspector I in the Engineering Department, effective March 1, 2021. Drew
received a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah with a major in Environmental
and Sustainability Studies. He previously worked for Central San as a summer student
with Buildings and Grounds for several years before joining the Environmental
Compliance team as a temporary Engineering Assistant. Before joining Central San, he

worked for EI Dorado Irrigation District as an Environmental Compliance Inspector for
more than a year before joining City of Pleasanton as a Water Conservation Technician
for the last three-plus years. Drew is a third-generation employee, following in his
grandfather's, father's, and mother's footsteps, all of whom retired from Central San.
4) Central San Says Goodbye to Donna Anderson, Assistant to the Secretary of
the District
We are delighted and yet disheartened to announce the retirement of Donna Anderson,
Assistant to the Secretary of the District, on March 30th, after more than 10 years of
service. Donna has been a tremendous employee and respected by all. We are indebted
to her vision and unwavering commitment to the District, reflected best by her exceptional
work ethic. Her organizational skills and get-it-done attitude have been an asset to the
Secretary of the District's office, as reflected in Board packets, Board Handbooks,
reviewing Position Papers, implementing the Novus Agenda Management system, and
the list goes on and on. Her attention to detail, while keeping the broader picture in mind,
has been invaluable.
Donna's retirement is a huge loss to the District but is well deserved. She will be sorely
missed and a hard-to-replace member of the Central San team, but we wish her nothing
but the best for a happy, healthy, and relaxing retirement.
