BAILEY, GENERAL MANAGER SUBJECT: RECEIVE UPDATE REQUESTED BY COMMITTEE AT OCTOBER 20, 2020 MEETING ON THE EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SURVEY At the last Finance Committee meeting on October 20, Chair Causey requested an update on the employee engagement survey. The following provides background on the project and its current status. A key strategic goal for Central San is to empower and engage its employees. In order to understand where efforts should be focused towards meeting this goal, Central San contracted with Cooperative Personnel Services (CPS) HR Consulting to conduct an employee engagement survey earlier this year, from March 2 to March 20, including on-site kickoff events at the Martinez and Walnut Creek campuses. The goal of the survey was to take the "pulse" of Central San's employees' overall engagement levels and establish baseline data to help Central San assess its strengths, identify gaps, and develop and implement an action plan to ensure high levels of engagement at all levels of the organization. However, because the survey was active during the beginning of the COVI D-19 pandemic, a significant portion of the data gathered may not necessarily be reflective of general engagement levels during normal operation. For that reason, the project is currently on hold. Staff will be available at the Committee meeting to answer any questions.
