ISSUE
A resolution of the Board of Directors (Board) is required to execute an amendment to an existing grant
easement as Central San's real property rights will be modified.
BACKGROUND
United Housing Foundation (Property Owner) realigned a portion of an existing public sewer within a
sanitary sewer easement on a parcel of land they own in Lafayette with Job 6606. To provide the

necessary land rights to the public sewers, the Property Owner provided an amendment to a grant of
easement. The purpose of this amendment is to modify the sewer alignment, increase easement width,
and upgrade terms to match Central San's current easement language.
ALTERNATIVES/CONSIDERATIONS
The Board could decline to amend the existing sanitary sewer easement. This alternative is not
recommended since Central San would not have the necessary land rights to reconstruct, maintain, or
operate the portion of the public sanitary sewer that is no longer within the existing easement limits.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS
The amendment to the grant of easement was acquired at no cost to Central San.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION
The Real Estate, Environmental and Planning Committee reviewed this matter at its meeting on October
12, 2020 and recommended approval.
RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION
Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to a grant easement as related to Job 6606, located in the
City of Lafayette, and authorizing staff to record documents with the Contra Costa County Recorder.
