SUBJECT: RECEIVE UPDATE ON REQUEST FROM MARATHON REFINERY TO
CONSIDER POTENTIAL WASTEWATER DISCHARGE TO CENTRAL SAN
I n August 2020, a representative from Marathon Refinery (Marathon) in Martinez reached out to staff
regarding the possibility of discharging their future industrial wastewater to Central San. Staff met with
Marathon representatatives on Microsoft Teams on August 31, 2020, to discuss the request. Staff will
provide a verbal update at the September 21, 2020, Real Estate, Environmental & Planning Committee
meeting.
