Public comments read into record at meeting Item 15: Public comment Transcription of voicemail received from Beth Weilenman on 8-20-20; read into the record at the meeting: Hello, this is [for] the Secretary of the District. I am just giving you a comment on the hearing for the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District. I am so sorry you guys have to go through this. My name is Beth Weilenman and I did comment on the Facebook site. Our City of Martinez and Martinez Unified School District also received virtually identical letters from Kevin Shenkman that convinced both of them to go to by-district voting and I am sure that is going to be the pathway that you all choose. I also know that without extensive research by demographics consultants, proper maps can't be done because of the one-person/one-vote regulation, plus some other things. I hope you get this accomplished within the umbrella protection that the legislature has provided. I'm just sorry that it happened this way that if people wanted by-district that it can't be done grass roots. But I also know Kevin Shenkman's record and I'll let it stand for itself. I'm just sorry that you all have to go through this added expense, which I am sure you did not have in your budget. And, best of luck, and I know that we could go in and make recommended changes but it all comes down to the numbers. Just best of luck on this and I'm just sorry it couldn't have happened a better way. And, um, he's a very interesting character as to how he is getting this accomplished, and it just seems to bypass the public participation except after the fact. He sends letters and there really isn't any alternative, is there? Take care and have a good day. As some members know, I have been involved in cases elsewhere and have anlyzed this. There is no particular urgency given the executive order.
