General Manager Written Announcements March 19, 2020 Regular Board Meeting Agenda Packet- Page 152 of 163 AMENDED AGENDA Page 2 of 3 ATTACHMENT 1 Board Meeting of March 19, 2020 General Manager Written Announcements PROJECT UPDATES 1) Public Bidding for Plant Control System 1/0 Replacement Project (Phase 2), Secondary Process, District Project 7339B The Plant Control System 1/0 Replacement Project - Phase 2, Secondary Process, will upgrade the programmable logic controllers, retrofit control panels and electrical distribution panels, replace eight variable frequency drives, and install fiber optic and new cabling for process equipment. The project is the second of a multiphase effort to replace obsolete control system hardware with modern equipment at the wastewater treatment plant. This project will be advertised on March 31 and April 7, 2020. Bids are scheduled to be opened on April 23, 2020. The Engineer's estimate is $1 ,300,000. More information will be presented when the Board is asked to award the construction contract on May 21, 2020. 2) Public Bidding for Martinez Sewer Renovations (Phase 6), District Prosect 8458 The Martinez Sewer Renovations, Phase 6, is part of the ongoing Collection System Sewer Renovation Program. This project will renovate approximately 9,000 feet of sewer mains, primarily 6- and 8-inch clay sewers, within the City of Martinez. Construction activities will include open-trench and pipe-bursting within public rights-of-way and private easements. This project will be advertised and bid in April 2020. The Engineer's estimate is $4,200,000. More information will be presented when the Board is asked to award the construction contract on May 21, 2020. CENTRAL SAN ACADEMY 3) Central San Academy Spring 2020 Session Postponed With the recent community concerns surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and other regional events being cancelled, staff has decided to postpone Central San Academy until this fall. At the time of cancellation, 62 applications had been received, and 39 applicants were confirmed attendees. All applicants will be notified when the classes are rescheduled. March 19, 2020 Regular Board Meeting Agenda Packet- Page 153 of 163 AMENDED AGENDA Page 3 of 3 Written Announcements March 19, 2020 Page 2 of 2 LAFCO ELECTION UPDATE 4) Update on Contra Costa Local Area Formation Commission (LAFCO) Election to Fill Special District Representative Seat for Four-Year Term In response to the recent call for nominations for the Special District (Member) seat on Contra Costa LAFCO, one candidate was nominated, Central San Board President Michael R. McGill. He was nominated by Central San, Diablo Water District, Ironhouse Sanitary District, Mt. View Sanitary District, Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District, Reclamation District 830, and West County Wastewater District. No election is required when there is one nominee so Mike McGill has been reappointed to Contra Costa LAFCO for another four-year term, expiring in May 2024.
