BAILEY, GENERAL MANAGER SUBJECT: RECEIVE SEMIANNUAL UPDATE ON PARTICIPATION IN TALKSICS TOASTMASTERS CLUB The Board adopted Board Policy No. BP 032 - Reimbursement of Toastmasters Dues in August 2017 which removed the time limit that previously had been placed on dues reimbursement for participants in Talksics Toastmasters (Club). This was meant to encourage more Central San employee participation in Toastmasters to improve public speaking and leadership skills. When the Administration Committee recommended Board adoption of the policy, it also requested that staff provide semiannual updates to the Committee on Toastmaster membership levels. This is the fifth update. Since the last report on August 20, 2019, Talksics Toastmasters has had a net loss of one member. Two non-Central San employee members did not renew their memberships and one Central San employee joined. There are now seven Central San employee members and two outside members for a total of nine. The minimum number of members is eight. The Club has had several visitors (both Central San employees and outsiders). They have been added to the Club mailing to be kept informed of future meeting dates. During this period, Central San employee members attended an average of 51 percent of the time, compared to three percent for outside members. The most common reasons for Central San employee member absences were work conflicts associated with auditors and construction activities.
