PROJECT UPDATES
1) Public Bidding for Danville Sewer Renovations, Phase 3, District Project 8456
The Danville Sewer Renovations Project, Phase 3, is part of the ongoing Collection
System Sewer Renovation Program to rehabilitate or replace deteriorated sewers. This
project will abandon approximately 4,000 feet of backyard sewer mains that will be
replaced with 1 ,700 feet of sewer mains in the public streets within the Las Lomitas
neighborhood in the Town of Danville. Approximately 4,300 feet of existing sewer mains
also will be renovated within the Town of Danville and City of San Ramon. Construction
activities will include open trench, pipe-bursting, and other trenchless technology within
public rights-of-way and easements.
This project will be advertised on January 21 and January 28, 2020. Bids will be opened
on February 19, 2020. The Engineer's estimate is $3,600,000. More information will be
presented when the Board is asked to award the construction contract on April 2, 2020.
2) Public Bidding for Outfall Improvements, Phase 7, District Project 7353
The Outfall Improvements Project, Phase 7, will perform an internal inspection of the land
portion of the existing 72-inch outfall pipeline that conveys final effluent from the treatment
plant to Suisun Bay and make any repairs that are identified. This inspection is a National
Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirement that is to be
completed every 5-10 years. Various improvements will be completed on manhole risers
and other appurtenant outfall structures, such as seismic upgrades to Structure 9000 near
the Filter Plant. The project also will include dewatering operations, replacing valves, and
re-directing final effluent to lower Walnut Creek. The construction is subject to stringent
permit requirements due to the environmentally sensitive areas where the work will occur,
and the District has coordinated the project with all applicable regulatory agencies.
This project will be advertised on January 31 and February 6, 2020. Bids will be opened
on March 3, 2020. The Engineer's estimate is $4,000,000. More information will be
presented when the Board is asked to award the construction contract on April 2, 2020.
