ROGER S. BAILEY, GENERAL MANAGER
SUBJECT: RECEIVE UPDATE ON CENTRAL SAN'S ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING
STATIONS (EVCS), DISTRICT PROJECT (DP) 8252
At the June 20, 2019 Board meeting, the Board authorized the General Manager to submit a Bay Area Air
Quality Management District (Air District) grant application for EVCS. This is an update on the project
since that time:
• Staff completed and submitted the grant application to the Air District prior to their deadline of June
30, 2019.
• Staff created a contingency capital project (D P 8252) and issued a task order to TJ C and
Associates, Inc., one of Central San's as-needed electrical consultants, to complete a 30% pre-
design and cost estimate for installation of EVCS in the Plant Operations Department's parking lot.
Their report is currently being finalized and includes the attached Table 1 on a few different EVCS
installation options.
• Central San will be eligible to apply for grant funds from the Air District in Spring 2020, when the Air
District's grant program reopens. This program provides $4,000 in grant funding per dual-port Level
2 EVCS and $18,000 in grant funding per Level 3 EVCS.
• Staff is currently working on an implementation and funding strategy to bring to the Board for
consideration.
Staff looks forward to providing this update and receiving your input at the December 16, 2019 Real
Estate, Planning & Committee meeting.
