BAILEY, GENERAL MANAGER SUBJECT: RECEIVE UPDATE ON CENTRAL SAN'S PARTICIPATION IN THE ISLE TECHNOLOGYAPPROVAL GROUP (TAG) A question was raised at the November 20, 2018 Finance Committee meeting as to a $10,000 expenditure for a one-year membership in Isle, Inc., a technology assessment group that tests emerging technologies for member utilities. It was noted that this was a new membership for Central San. The Finance Committee requested that a report be brought to this Committee at some future point to assess the merits of belonging to this group. Staff will discuss the attached presentation at this meeting. Technology Selection TAG is completely end user driven,because each of the featured technologies is selected through a voting process by participating utilities who choose from a longer list of solutions qualified to meet their needs. TAG Meeting Each featured solution providers gives a technical presentation followed by Q&A and discussion.Participants provide feedback and evaluate alignment with their operational requirements. Follow Up + TAG consists of a continuous,on-going program of activities,such as collaborative trials and pilots.Isle tracks technology projects and regularly connects end users around solutions of interest. ` 3 CENTRAILSAN BENEFITS OF TAG MEMBERSHIP Identification & Evaluation of Best-in-Class Solutions: Isle vets 200+ technologies per 0 year and curates>30 technologies for each TAG region.Vendor referrals are encouraged. Online Database of 1,000+Technologies: Developed specifically for the water industry, 0 our online platform allows utilities to connect globally with proven solutions. Peer-to-Peer Networking:With 200+global TAG utilities and 3 regional events per year, 0 TAG promotes collaboration and information sharing to leverage limited resources. Independence:When qualifying technologies, Isle maintains an objective approach and 0 does not benefit financially when companies present or secure projects from TAG.
