General Manager Written Announcements March 21, 2019 Regular Board Meeting Agenda Packet- Page 191 of 204 Page 2 of 2 ATTACHMENT 1 Board Meeting of March 21 , 2019 General Manager Written Announcements OUT-OF-AREA CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE 1) Staff Attendance at California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Annual Conference in Palm Springs from April 9-12, 2019 The California Water Environment Association's (CWEA) 90th Annual Conference will be held at the Palm Springs Convention Center and the Renaissance Hotel from April 9-12, 2019. A total of eleven employees will be attending the full conference from Central San. They are attending for a variety of purposes: • To attend CWEA Executive Board Meeting, • To serve as presenters, and • To obtain knowledge of latest technology in the industry/training In addition, this conference will provide the opportunity to connect and build relationships with other water and wastewater professionals from around the state; grow leadership, technical skills and capacity; network with others in the industry; and share lessons learned. It also allows attendees to speak directly with exhibitors who offer the latest technologies and advances in the industry. Staff attendance at this conference is included in the Fiscal Year 2018-19 Technical Training, Conferences, and Meetings budget. 2) Staff to Attend National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) Annual Pretreatment and Pollution Prevention Workshop — Tacoma, Washington from May 15-17, 2019 Senior Environmental Compliance Inspector Colleen Henry will be attending the NACWA Annual Pretreatment and Pollution Prevention Workshop in Tacoma, Washington from May 15-17, 2019. The NACWA P3 Workshop provides excellent training and advanced networking opportunities for pretreatment staff. Ms. Henry has actively supported previous workshops by volunteering to facilitate round table discussion sessions and she plans to serve in this capacity in Tacoma this year. Participation in the Workshop contributes to Ms. Henry's professional development.
