EXISTING STRUCTURES
• There are approximately 36,700 structures
including manholes and rodding inlets.
• Sewer manholes, rodding inlets, and other
structures are built to high standards per
Central San's Standard Specifications.
• However, there are occasions when a cover
can rattle, roadways may sink, or other
circumstances that require modifications or
structure adjustments to/or around the frame
and covers.

CSO STRUCTURE ADJUSTMENTS
How does CSO prioritize structure
adjustments?

field staff investigates the same day;
• If the structure poses any possible health and
safety risk, it is adjusted immediately; and
• Adjustments found by CSO field staff are
prioritized based on the inspection results.

CSO STRUCTURE ADJUSTMENTS
What is the standard for adjusting structures
to grade?
• County requires that any structure having a
grade difference of 1/2 inch or greater be
adjusted to match the existing road surface.
• The Cities in our service area also use the
County's 1/2 inch standard.
• CSO field staff also use this standard when
inspecting structures.
