ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE
1) Industrial User Academy Hosted by Central San Staff
Environmental Compliance staff hosted an Industrial User (IU) Academy on October 25,
2018. Businesses issued a discharge permit were invited to attend the IU Academy to
learn how to comply with the conditions of the permit and Central San's Source Control
Ordinance. A full range of topics was covered including what to expect during inspections,
how to conduct sampling, reading lab reports, completing reports and more. The design
of this IU Academy was modified to provide pre-Academy modules for certain topics to
allow for just one day of sessions on site. The IU Academy included a plant tour which
has always been a popular feature. Twelve representatives from ten businesses attended
the event.
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
2) Notices Sent to Reimbursement Account Holders
Central San provides a reimbursement program so that costs of mainline sewer
extensions can be shared among property owners. Each year, in accordance with District
Code, annual notices are mailed to the holders of reimbursement accounts (installers).
This year, a total of 81 annual notices were mailed on October 19, 2018.
Installers were reminded of the need to keep Central San informed of any change of
address. Installers were asked to update their information and return the notice to Central
San in the prepaid envelopes provided. Having current address information will enable
staff to notify Installers when reimbursement fees are collected on their behalf. Installers
were also informed of the expiration dates of their accounts. Staff will continue to make
reasonable efforts to locate installers.
