SUBJECT: RECEIVE A PROJECT UPDATE OF THE SOUTH ORINDA SEWER
RENOVATIONS, PHASE 6, DISTRICT PROJECT 8433
The South Orinda Sewer Renovations, Phase 6, District Project 8433 is nearing completion. All sewers
have been installed and the general contractor, Cratus, Inc., is working on the punch list items. The
Collection Systems Operations Division requested an urgent sewer replacement on Camino Pablo in
Orinda. The Capital Projects Division investigated and evaluated the sewer, which is severely structurally
compromised, and recommends replacement this year as part of the Phase 6 project. The cost to replace
the sewer is $155,700, which includes replacement of approximately 500 linear feet of existing 8-inch
sewer main by pipe bursting and other related sewer work.Adequate funds remain in the project
contingency for the change order. Staff has notified the City of Orinda and other utilities of the proposed
work. The General Manager authorized the sewer replacement under the delegated authority adopted by
the Board of Directors.
