General Manager Written Announcements
EMPLOYEE TO PRESENT AT UPCOMING EVENT
1) Emily Barnett to Present at California Association of Sanitation Agencies
(CASA) 63rd Annual Conference in Monterey
CASA has served as the leading voice for clean water agencies on regulatory, legislative
and legal issues and is dedicated to advancing wastewater interests, including the
recycling of wastewater into usable water, generation of renewable energy, biosolids and
other valuable resources. CASA represents public agencies that engage in the collection,
treatment or disposal of wastewater, resource recovery or water recycling.
Communications and Intergovernmental Relations Manager Emily Barnett will present as
part of a panel discussion on Social Media Trends and Best Practices at the August 8-10,
2018 CASA conference. Ms. Barnett will be a focusing her presentation on "Managing
Today's Social Media Risk and Compliance and Managing Staff Time." In attendance will
be wastewater industry Board members, General Managers and other staff interested in
implementing or growing their social media outreach in effective ways.
OUT-OF-STATE CONFERENCE
2) Senior Engineer to Travel to HYPOWERS Pilot Project Review Meeting in
Colorado on August 3, 2018
Planning & Development Services Senior Engineer Dan Frost will travel to Golden,
Colorado to participate in a project review meeting with the Department of Energy (DOE)
for the HYPOWERS (Hydrothermal Processing of Wastewater Solids) Pilot project on
August 3, 2018. He will participate in the project review discussions along with the Water
Research Foundation (WRF) and other key HYPOWERS team members. The project
review meeting was requested by DOE for informing their budgetary commitment decision
for potential future construction and operation of the pilot at Central San. The cost of this
travel is covered as part of Central San's commitment for in-kind contribution to the
project.
