SUBJECT: ANNOUNCEMENTS - JANUARY 18, 2018
PROJECT UPDATES
1) Public Bidding for Walnut Creek Sewer Renovations, Phase 12, District Project 8435
The Walnut Creek Sewer Renovations, Phase 12, is part of the ongoing Collection System Sewer
Renovation Program. This project will renovate up to 9,000 feet of sewer mains, primarily 6-inch clay
sewers, within the Saranap area of unincorporated Walnut Creek. Construction activities will include open
trench, pipe-bursting, and other trenchless technology within public rights-of-way and easements.
This project will be advertised on January 19 and 24, 2018. Bids will be opened on February 1, 2018.
The Engineer's estimate is $3,200,000. More information will be presented when the Board is asked to
award the construction contract on February 15, 2018.
2) Public Bidding for Property and Building Improvements, Phase 1 -4737 Imhoff Place, District
Project 8247-1
The Property and Building Improvements, Phase 1 project funds needed improvements to Central San's
buildings, excluding the treatment plant. This phase will make storage, code requirements, and other
improvements to Bay Nos. 1 and 2 of 4737 1 mhoff Place in Martinez for operational needs of the Source
Control group.
This project will be advertised on January 22 and 29, 2018. Bids will be opened on February 9, 2018. The
construction cost is estimated under$100,000.
3) Public Bidding for South Orinda Sewer Renovations, Phase 6, District Project 8433
The South Orinda Sewer Renovations, Phase 6, is part of the ongoing Collection System Sewer
Renovation Program. This project will renovate up to 9,000 feet of sewer mains, primarily 6-inch clay
sewers, in the downtown area and various neighborhoods in Orinda (south of Highway 24). Construction
activities will include open trench, pipe-bursting, and other trenchless technology within public rights-of-way
and easements.
This project will be advertised on January 22 and 26, 2018. Bids will be opened on February 14, 2018.
The Engineer's estimate is $3,200,000. More information will be presented when the Board is asked to

award the construction contract in March 2018.
CUSTOMER OUTREACH
4) Public Workshop Scheduled for January 23, 2018 Regarding South Orinda Sewer
Renovations, Phase 6, District Project 8433
Central San will host a public workshop regarding the South Orinda Sewer Renovation Project, Phase 6,
District Project 8433, on Thursday, January 23 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Orinda Library Garden Room
located at 26 Orinda Way in Orinda.
As noted above, the project will replace/rehabilitate approximately 9,000 feet of sewer pipe at several
different sites in Orinda using open-cut, pipe-bursting, and Horizontal Directional Drilled (HDD) methods.
Staff is in the process of contacting all residents who will be affected by easement work on their
properties. Members of the public are invited to attend to learn more about the project and its potential
impact on the surrounding neighborhoods.

5) Staff Retirement
The following employee announced his retirement effective January 3, 2018:
• Rick Ginn, Maintenance Crew Leader, after 14 years of service.

6) General Manager Authorized Contracts,Agreements, Etc. - Fourth Quarter 2017
The Board has delegated various authorities to the General Manager via resolution, including the authority
to enter into certain agreements and contracts on behalf of the District. Additionally, the Board has
requested an announcement when construction projects have been accepted, which occurs when the
Notice of Completion is recorded with the County Recorder's Office. Also, the Board has requested
notification of certain legal claim settlements. Attached is a recap of each of these items for the period
October 1 through December 31, 2017.
