SUBJECT: DISCUSS POTENTIAL NAMING OF THE TREATMENT PLANT
The Board of Directors adopted Board Policy No. BP 025 - Naming of District Facilities in 2016 setting
forth policy and criteria for the naming or dedication of District facilities. To that end, the Board may
periodically wish to consider naming one of its facilities in honor of exemplary public service rendered by
an individual. This is both an honor for Central San, to be associated with individuals of such well-earned
stature, and for the recipient, whose civic and community -focused work should be remembered for
decades to come.
As Central San reflects on 71 years of service to central Contra Costa County, the Board is provided a
wonderful opportunity to honor a remarkable individual who has helped guide the District's successful
path. Senator John A. Nejedly, father of Central San's longstanding Board Member James A. Nejedly,
former Contra Costa County Board Supervisor Mary Nejedly Piepho, and the late John T. Nejedly, long -
serving Contra Costa Community College District Board Member, meets all the criteria and eligibility
requirements under BP 025. The attached proposed resolution unveils compelling reasons for
considering Senator Nejedly as a candidate to have Central San's treatment plant bear his name —
Senator John A. Nejedly Treatment Plant.
