PROBLEM: Request by E. E. Meredith of 75 Scenic Drive, Orinda,
for sharing the expense of pl mbing bill.
2. CKGROUND: After calling "Sewer Service of America" to relieve a
toppage in their line, it was determined that the problem was in
the main. A district crew responded to Mt. Meredith's call and re-
moved a root stoppage from the main.
. REC*ArNDATION: Mr. Meredith has amended his request to us because
of a reduction in his bill. His cost would be $29.45. I recommend
payment.''

PROBLEM: Overflow, Mrs, I. Cadenasso
3718 Canyon Way
Martinez, Californi
228-4362
2. BACKGROUND: On Sunday, October 10, 1971, the District on-call crew
was called to relieve an overflow at the address mentioned above.
Upon arrival, the crew found the 6" existing easement line plugged
6' upstream from MH at side of #3718 toward MH at rearof#3715
Serrano Avenue. The stoppage consisted of root and grease and
was cleared with no difficulty. The damage was limited to the hall
carpet with pad. The District crew cleaned and di infected
throughout and an overflow device will be installed.
3. ALTE
ATIVES: Pay claim, refuse claim.
4. RECOMMENDATION: The total amount of this claim comes to $147.70
Thls includes replacement of rug and pad. I feel the claimant is
entitled to a settlement. It seems to be reasonable for this type
of damage.

Approval of Plans, Specifications & Contract Documents
for District Sewering Project No. 2071, approximately
845 ft. of 12 inch sewer line to be relocated into the
new South Broadway extension. Estimated cost $21,360.00,.
PROBLEM: .The District's rights to maintain a 12" sewer line over
Southern Pacific Company land near the Walnut„Creek station will be
subordinate to a lease that the Broadway Shopping Center is acquiring
from the Southern Pacific Company for expansion of their two level
parking facilities.
2. BACKGROUND: The Southern Pacific Company's Walnut Creek station
property y's South Broadway street extension,
is beingsevered bythe cit,
the portion lying to the west of the street extension in which we have
a'pp'roximately 760 feet of 12” sewer pipe is to be leased to the
Broadway Shopping Center. Since the new street offers us better
alignment and access and there will be a city imposed moratorium on
street cuts, the time to relocate is during the street construction.
This project replaces a 22 year low standard clay pipe with a new
pipe on better alignment.
ALTS, IVES Wait until the Lessee builds over or otherwise obstructs
or confl,a ;ts with this sewer line and then acquire an easement to
relocate to avoid the conflict.
CO D.' ON Approval of this sewer relocation and authority to
complete plans and specifications and to advertise for construction bids.,

Approval of Plans, Specifications and Contract Documents
for District Sewering Project No. .1883. Approximately
4800 feet of 15, 18 & 21 inch Watershed 29 No. Trunk
Sewer Line in Walnut Blvd., 'Walnut Creek. Estimated
cost $195,100.00.
PROBLEM: The existing sewer line serving this watershed was installed
in 1949. The 15 and 18 inch line designed for single family dwellings
is over capacity. It was necessary to install a bypass to the trunk
several years ago.
2. BACKGw'MTJND: A large portion of the drainage area now has been rezoned
and has high density apartment buildings connected. There are others
under construction and all indications are that the trend will continue
at an accelerated rate. This was in 1963
anticipated by watershed
planning and two sections of the trunk have been constructed to date.
It is now necessary to complete the entire trunk due to increased
development. Watershed trunk charges will eventually repay the
District advance of funds.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of Plans, Specifications and advertisement
for bids for construction of this line including acquisition of rights
of way before other, development preempts us.

HJJECT: Manhole Riser Ring Authorization
. PROBLEM: The City of Pleasant Hill and Contra Costa County have,
underway, extensive street overlay jobs; 100 , nholes will need
adjusting. Total cot for adjustment rings will run $4,000.00
2. BACKGROUND: This type of project is generally not included in our
budget because we don't receive the information in time. We do
have $3,000,00 previously authorized. If we add $1,000.00 to
these funds, we will have enough for this work.
3. RECOMMENDATION: Authorize $1,000.00 from sewer construction for
the purd4 e of manhole riser rings.
