Horstkotte, Jr., General Manager -Chief Engineer SUBJECT: Agenda Item - Edward W. Blake 26 Lavenida Orinda, California 94563 1. PROBLEM: On February 17, 1971, the main sewer plugged again. Mr. Blake called a plumber because his plumbing was not working properly. The overflow device outside the house was running over at the time the District crew arrived. There was no damage in the house, just some cleanup outside around the overflow de- vice. 2. BACKGROUND: On December 28, 1968, the main sewer line alongside 26 Lavenida plugged and flooded the interior of the house. After this happened, a back water overflow device was installed by us, as is our practice. This device was installed on Jan- uary 9, 1969. RECOMMENDATION: Pay bill. We disagree with Mr. Blake's theory of automatically calling a plumber (he didn't) for a sewer problem. The main sewer line was plugged and Mr. Blake did incur the expense he claims. Dear Sir: As requested by Mr. Hinkson on Febryary 23, we submitt a claim for $50.00 (copy of bill enclosed). Incurred through the main sewer line backing up. We do feel justified in making this claim, for if you will refer to January 7, 1969, we experienced major flooding due to this. Mr. Hinkson mentioned that you tried to educate people who,had had these problems to call the sanitation district immediately. Certainly, no one from your dept had told us this and the last thing we expected was a reoccurraoce of sewer problems. One automatically calls a plumber when water doesn't grain away and toilets firand fill to the brim. We do feel it is your responsibility to keep the main lines free. PROBLEM: Acceptance of easements at no cost to District. 2. BACKGROUND: The easements under consideration for acceptance by the District are: a. Job 1859B, Parcels 1 through 7 inclusive, Systech Financial Corporation Grantor, portion of Rancho Las Juntas. PURPOSE: These easements are for sewerage purposes. 4. PROBLEM: A Parcel of land in LID 38 (one building site) was assessed a full unit of assessment but did not receive direct service to or near property line. 2. BACKGROUND: The property owner through his builder, Strand Builders, has requested that the District furnish the service for which he was assessed. 3® ALTERNATIVE: 1. Construct 122 linial feet of 4 inch side sewer at a cost of approximately $900.00. 2. Deny request and let owner bear cost. 4. RECOMMENDATIONS: Issue P. O. for construction of 4" line.
