Per Mary Lou Esparta, Laboratory Superintendent, Certral San's laboratory does not

effluent chronic toxicity.
This test -'Os performed once every three months at a total annual cost ot $13,000. It
measures the chronic effect (does FE suppress growth of the organisms over the
course of seven days) that Cent ral San's f in a I effluent has ori A mericamysis Bahia
(mysid shrimp, pictured below). The cost of one test requires one complete test of the
final effluent and one complete test of a reterence toxicant. Both tests need to be run on
the same batch of shrimp.
