BAILEY, GENERAL MANAGER / ANN SASAKI, DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER FROM: TEM O'MALLEY, HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER SUBJECT: EMPLOYEE/DISTRICT PENSION CONTRIBUTIONS\ As a result of the discussion that took place during the Administration Committee meeting on September 19, 2016, this memo is to provide information to the Administration Committee related to the current contribution structure for the District's pension plan. The following table details the FY16-17 contribution rates for both employees and the District towards the normal costs of the District's pension plan: Tier Employee Cost Employer Cost Legacy Employees (hired 11.76% 16.99% prior to 12/31/12 and based upon an average) PEPRA employees 16.11% 12.06% Currently, the District contributes approximately 1.25% of the employees share towards the normal costs and this subvention will be phased out effective April 18, 2017 as was negotiated in the District's MOUs with the three bargaining units.
