HomeMy WebLinkAbout07.a.2) General Manager Written Announcements7.a.2) Board Meeting of September 1, 2016 Written Announcements: PROJECT UPDATE a) Public Bidding for the Headworks Screening Upgrade Project, District Project 7327 The Headworks Screening Upgrade Project will install new bar screens with much finer openings, include screening conveyance and washer compactors, and construction of a new screening disposal facility at the Treatment Plant. Project benefits include reduced maintenance costs for process equipment, better odor recovery, and final effluent quality. This project will be advertised on September 2 and 9, 2016. The bid opening is scheduled for September 30, 2016. The engineer's estimate is currently at $6,250,000. More information will be presented when the Board is asked to approve the construction contract on October 20, 2016. COMMUNICATIONS b) Staff to Present at CASA/CWEA Communication Essentials Workshop Communication Services and Intergovernmental Relations Manager Emily Barnett will be presenting at two workshops in the month of October sponsored jointly by the California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CASA) and California Water Environment Association (CWEA). As part of her new appointment as Vice Chair for the CASA Communications Workgroup, Emily will be helping to lead communication based programing and training on behalf of CASA in an effort to engage and train members. Two Communication Essentials Workshops have been scheduled: October 18, 2016 at East Bay Municipal Utility District; and October 20, 2016 at Orange County Sanitation District. These workshops are open to all water professionals seeking to develop communication skills, including directors, general managers, communication professionals and entry-level staff.
