Ideally, with an event of this size staff should begin preparing a year in advance in order to plan and provide necessary day-of-event coverage. Deciding upon the event date and communicating the date to staff, a year in advance would enable a greater number of employees to be available. Overly frequent events lose the excitement, community buzz, media attention, support from partners, and recognition from stakeholders if they are not purpose driven (i.e. 70 years of service). • Costs of goods, services, and labor are high. • The time required to plan and execute signature events is significant. It was simply amazing, and SO very well done! My husband and I were excited to go on the plant tour (my husband is a civil engineer and I am into environmental education). It was short - and we appreciated your need to include as many folks as possible. We were invited to come again for the full tour- and most probably will look into that. However, I just wanted to tell you that your event was a great multi-generational party, with so much for everyone! The bubbles, games, prizes and information for kids was extremely well done and was enjoyed by more than just the kids! :) There were technical displays with your folks, who are experts not only at their jobs, but they shared interesting and useful information about it too. I AM a recycled water customer, and thoroughly enjoyed the display! Really appreciate the "No wipes down the drains" message, and especially how it is disseminated! All the info in that area was very well done. The Household HazMat area was really interesting - and I was happy to be able to see it all. Everyone was really helpful in understanding the various areas and functions too. It was a great opportunity to see everything "up close and personal". But again, it was the interaction of the people who work with this that truly made the experience so beneficial. t Having the lab interns right outside that area was a great idea - it all works together. We got a really good understanding of what Central San is all about, and had a fun time doing it! Your food choice could not have been better! It was really tasty, and appealing to all. Relaxing in the park was so nice, and we even walked through the flower garden. Okay, that's where my only suggestions come from: 1. Please put containers for aluminum foil and cardboard food container recycling out. I was SO impressed that your caterer would use such perfect containers! 2. Because I am into gardening, I would love to see the plants labeled and pruned. I am sure volunteers would love to do that! :) Your cooling station and rest room areas were great too! I kept thinking you all have thought of everything! Then we watched the toilet races, and I knew you really HAD thought of everything! It was a fun, fun day and we sincerely thank you all! Hope to see you at a 75th anniversary event!
