BOARD OF DIRECTORS POSITION PAPER Board Meeting Date: August 18, 2016 Subject REVISE THE PAY GRADE FOR THE SECRETARY OF THE DISTRICT POSITION FROM M-36 ($9,869-$11,995) TO M-35 ($10,115-$12,295) Submitted By: Initiating Dept./Div.: Ann Sasaki, Operations/Human Resources Deputy General Manager REVIEWED AND RECOMMENDED FOR BOARD ACTION: Roger S.Bailby General Manager ISSUE: Board of Directors' approval is required to change the pay grade associated with a job classification. BACKGROUND: During the recent performance evaluation for the Secretary of the District, the Board determined that the variety and complexity of the duties assigned to this position justify an increase in the pay grade from M-36 to M-35 to be consistent with other management positions that function at this level. ALTERNATIVES/CONSIDERATIONS: Do not revise the pay grade. FINANCIAL IMPACTS: This action will result in an annual cost of$6,040 at the maximum steps of the salary range. This cost includes all benefits associated with a regular, full-time position. COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: This item was not reviewed by a Board Committee; rather, it was discussed by the full Board in closed session. RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION: Revise the pay grade for the Secretary of the District position from pay grade M-36 ($9,869-$11,995) to M-35 ($10,115-$12,295), effective August 18, 2016.
