ISSUE: In accordance with Board Policy No. BP 008 — Travel Expense Reimbursement
Policy, Board approval is required in advance for proposed Board Member conference
attendance.
BACKGROUND: Conference attendance for calendar year 2016 was approved by the
Board at the November 5, 2015 meeting. Since that time, Board Member McGill has
expressed interest in attending the November 15-17, 2016 Bay -Delta Science
Conference in Sacramento. This is a biennial forum for presenting technical analyses
and results relevant to the Delta Science Program's mission to provide the best possible,
unbiased, science -based information for water and environmental decision-making in the
Bay -Delta system. The goal of the conference is to provide new information and
syntheses to the broad community of scientists, engineers, resource managers, and
stakeholders working on Bay -Delta issues.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS: The $275 registration cost to attend the conference, plus
mileage and accommodations.
ALTERNATIVES/CONSIDERATIONS: The Board may deny the request for attendance
at the conference.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: This matter was not reviewed by a Board
Committee.
RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION: Consider request of Board Member McGill to
attend the November 15-17, 2016 Bay -Delta Science Conference in Sacramento.
