3. CAPITAL PROJECTS COMMITTEE MEETING/ BOARD WORKSHOP
a. Review 2005-2006 Equipment Budget
Copies of the Draft 2005-2006 Equipment Budget had been previously
distributed to the Capital Projects Committee. General Manager Chuck Batts
stated that this year the Equipment Budget is higher than in years past. That is
because purchase of two large pieces of equipment is requested for the
Collection System Operations (CSO) Division, a TV truck and a rodder. Those
two pieces of equipment total $330,000 of the proposed $734,125 Equipment
Budget. Director of Administration Randy Musgraves, Director of Engineering
Ann Farrell, and Director of Operations Jim Kelly reviewed their respective
department's Equipment Budget requests and the District vehicle requests, and
answered questions of the Committee.
COMMITTEE ACTION: Member Lucey requested information on the
difference between the costs of the District's
television inspection operation compared to Roto-
Rooter, and Mr. Kelly stated that he will provide
that information.
Members Boneysteele and Lucey stated that the
proposed 2005-2006 Equipment Budget is
reasonable; the proposed 2005-2006 Equipment
Budget will be calendared for Board consideration
at the April 21, 2005 Board Meeting. Member
Lucey stated that he will vote in favor of the
Administration and Engineering Department
requests but against the Collection System
Operations, Plant Operations, and Vehicle
requests because of the lack of hiring of women
in those divisions in recent years.
