HomeMy WebLinkAbout11.a.1) General Manager written announcements 11 . a . 1 Board Meeting of June 16, 2016 Written Announcements: PROJECT UPDATES a) Public Bidding for the Fairview and Maltby Pumping Stations Pump Rebuild, District Project 5941 The Fairview and Maltby Pumping Station Pump Rebuild is part of the ongoing Pumping Stations Equipment and Piping Replacement program. The project will rehabilitate two pumps at Maltby Pumping Station and three pumps at Fairview Pumping Station. This project is scheduled to be advertised on June 23 and 29, 2016. Bids are scheduled to be opened on July 5, 2016. The current construction cost estimate is $150,000. More information will be presented when the Board is asked to approve the construction contract on July 21, 2016. b) Public Bidding for the Residential Fill Station Improvements Proiect, District Project 7350 The Residential Fill Station Improvements Project proposes to replace the west driveway at the District's Kiewit property with a street entrance, and pave the residential and commercial fill station access road in accordance with the County's Land Use agreement. Construction work will include grading, paving, and striping. The project will be publicly advertised in early July, and bids are scheduled to be opened by July 29, 2016. The Engineer's estimate for the required paving and roadway improvement work is $125,000. An alternate bid item will include an expansion of residential recycled water fill stations at the Kiewit property. PLANNING AND APPLIED RESEARCH c) Central San to Host CASAXWEA Biosolids and Renewable Energy Specialty Workshop On July 19, 2016, the California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CASA) and the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) will be holding a one-day specialty workshop on Biosolids and Renewable Energy in Central San's Multi-Purpose Room. The focus of the workshop will be successful biosolids management practices and innovative treatment technology for biosolids, renewable energy production and utilization, and climate change mitigation. Attendees will be introduced to a host of cutting-edge, innovative technologies for further evaluation. Speakers will provide information on new technologies, operating experience and performance data, and the Written Announcements June 16, 2016 Page 2 of 2 status of ongoing research (if not yet at full scale). Speakers will include both private technology providers and public agencies employing or researching them. LAFCO ELECTION UPDATE d) Update on Local Area Formation Commission (LAFCO) Election to Fill Special District Representative Seat for Four-Year Term At its meeting on February 18, 2016, the Board of Directors adopted a resolution nominating Member McGill for re-election to fill the LAFCO Special District Representative seat, whose term was set to expire in May 2016. Due to a lack of quorum the scheduled April 18, 2016 election did not take place. An election was held via mail ballot during May and Member McGill was subsequently re-elected to the seat, the term for which expires in May 2020.
