HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.a.2) Report on 2017 Labor Negotiations Planning Schedule LABOR NEGOTIATIONS PLANNING SCHEDULE Presented by Teji O'Malley, Human Resources Manager April 21, 2016 1 OVERVIEW OF PLANNING • In October of 2014, the Board directed staff to develop a labor negotiations schedule. • The schedule served to outline all milestones and tasks related to the next round of labor negotiations scheduled to take place in 2017. 1 04/12/16 PURPOSE OF PLANNING Allows for the Board, staff, and bargaining units to be proactive Provides for transparency Supplies ample time for in-depth analysis of major issues related to bargaining a,Y` PLANNING AT THE ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE LEVEL • Gantt chart was developed and is presented as a standing item on the Administration Committee agenda. • Gantt chart is color coded to delineate tasks that are assigned to the Board, staff, and others. • Progress of each task is updated prior to each Administration Committee meeting. • Any obstacles/issues related to any tasks are discussed in detail at the Administration Committee meeting. 2 04/12/16 ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE PLANNING PROCESS THUS FAR • The District's Bargaining Team has been identified. • Class and compensation consultant 11 has begun the Total Compensation Study. • Internal survey of District Departments on work rules to be addressed during negotiations has begun. / • Consultant from State Mediation and Conciliation Services has been procured, and training has been scheduled for the Board on roles and sponsibilities during negotiations.
