HomeMy WebLinkAbout06.a.2) Written AnnouncementsBoard Meeting of January 28, 2016 Written Announcements: a) AWARDS AND COMMENDATIONS Awards Received at the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) San Francisco Bay Section Annual Awards Banquet The CWEA San Francisco Bay Section Annual Awards Banquet was held on January 8, 2016 at the Walnut Creek Marriott. Two District employees won awards: • Al Ditman Professional Development Award — Chathura Abeyrathna: Capital Projects Assistant Engineer • Collection System Person of the Year — Jeremiah Walsh: Hydro Operator Awards will be presented to the District by a representative from CWEA San Francisco Bay Section at a future Board meeting. The District will compete for the State Collection System Person of the Year category, as well as two submissions for the Quarter Century Recognition Award, at the CWEA Annual Conference on April 29, 2016 in Santa Clara. OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL b) Collection System Employees to Travel to Illinois to Inspect VACTOR Unit Nick Wright, Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor and Justin Anderson, Maintenance Crew Member II, will be traveling out of state to the VACTOR manufacturing plant in Streator, Illinois to inspect the VACTOR unit, purchased by the District in Fiscal Year 2014-15. They will leave on February 3, 2016 and return on February 5, 2016. CONTRACTS UPDATE c) Recap of Contracts Signed by General Manager during Fourth Quarter 2015 The Board has asked to receive quarterly reports of the professional consulting agreements entered into by staff that fall within the increased staff authority limits that became effective December 15, 2011. On that date, the limit on staff authority for professional consulting services agreements was raised by the Board from $50,000 to $100,000. This is a report of all professional consulting agreements entered into by staff Written Announcements January 28, 2016 Page 2 of 2 which fall within the increased staff authority limits (over $50,000 and less than $100,000) and amendments that cause agreements to fall within this dollar range. The Board approves the annual budget which includes the expenses that come from these contracts, so these contracts are not included in this report as they have historically been within staff authority.
