GENERAL UPDATES
d) Pollution Prevention
Educating our customers about pollution prevention is important no matter what the age.
Studies suggest that these messages are even more effective if received at a young age.
It is with this in mind that the Communication Services' team has been working on
different ways to engage our young customers. In the most recent Pipeline newsletter,
students from around our service area were able to pledge to be "water protectors" of our
Bay. They took a small quiz that included important P2 messages from Pipeline articles
and signed a pledge form which they mailed back to Central San. In return, students that
mailed their pledges received a drawstring backpack and corresponding thank you letter
from 011ie the Otter, a mascot for student pollution prevention messages. This is a fun and
exciting way to engage younger customers while helping protect our Bay for future
generations.
