HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.a.2) General Manager Announcements5a.z) Board Meeting of December 3, 2015 Written Announcements: RECYCLED WATER a) Recent Sanitary Sewer Overflow in Rossmoor On Wednesday, November 11, 2015 (Veteran's Day), the District's Collection System Operations (CSO) received a call at 9:02 a.m. from the On -call Dispatch Services of a potential overflow occurring at Rossmoor in Walnut Creek. The on -call crew was dispatched and cleared the stoppage at 9:55 a.m. An investigation was performed to determine the start time and duration of the overflow. During the investigation, it was determined that the homeowner first noticed the overflow at 7:00 a.m. The volume was then calculated using a duration of 175 minutes and a flowrate of 75 gallons per minute, for a total volume of 13,125 gallons. The sewer is a 6 -inch diameter vitrified -clay line that was installed in 1963 and is located in an easement. The overflow reached a storm drain system that ultimately flowed into Tice Creek. CSO crews flushed and cleaned the creek per the District's standard practice. Notifications were made to the California Office of Emergency Services and the County Department of Public Health. California River Watch was notified of the overflow and made aware that their samples for CAM -17 testing could be picked up at the District's Laboratory. Additionally, a Biologist was dispatched to the site on Friday, November 13, 2015, and approved the cleanup operations of Tice Creek.
