C.ONTKA COSTA April 8, 2015 Greeting Melody, We've had an amazing year empowering thousands of people right here in Contra Costa County to make their lives and communities more sustainable and advancing our programs and level of engagement with individuals, schools, businesses, and cities to ensure our community has the resources they need for a healthy environment, economy and society. This year is particularly exciting! We are thrilled to announce that we have seen a vision of ours come to fruition in the launching of our 12 -week Certified Sustain ability Advisors Program'"'. Central Sanitary District's contribution of $1,000 last year helped us launch the CSA Program, which is turning out even better than we had imagined. Our first course has 18 innovative leaders and activists from the public, private and non - profit sectors working together to inspire change by developing solution based skills and tangible ways to activate a diverse base of people throughout the region. We enrolled more participants than expected, and in turn these leaders will go out and influence their friends, families, and communities exponentially (starting right here in Contra Costa). With your help, we will be able to continue and expand the CSA program. This year we are planning the launch of an inspirational and educational schools' program to engage young people to create a collective vision for their community's sustainable future. Young people take action when they feel inspired and empowered. We hope you will join us in working with local schools and youth groups to empower kids to create this vision and give them the tools to do so. Throughout the month of May our community will come alive with thousands of inspired people taking practical action as part of the Community Resilience Challenge East Bay. Last Spring, our community stepped up with 8,087 actions to grow food, save water, conserve energy and build community! You can help us make an even broader impact, raise awareness of the need for local solutions, and inspire others to rise to the Challenge. Our Sustainable Living Workshop Series offers 14 workshops this year! As part of the Growing Together Initiative, we've teamed up with Rodgers Ranch Heritage Center and Urban Farm to help people transform their homes and lives by teaching and inspiring them to: keep bees; grow and share food; make non -toxic cleaning products; have a zero -waste and energy -smart home; and capture, reuse, and conserve water. We need your help to continue expanding our reach for these and the many other important things we do to inspire change and build a healthier, more resilient community. Since 2007 — when SCOCO was just a vision of 5 community members in a coffee shop (we often still meet in coffee shops!) — we have built a proven track record of delivering effective, impactful services. If you believe these programs are valuable, we hope you will consider increasing your support with a gift of $10,000. With your upgraded Partnership level you will be prominently featured on our website and programming materials, and reserved tables at our annual Leadership in Sustainability and Green Building Awards Gala. A complete list of benefits is enclosed. Thank you again for your thoughtful consideration.
