2014 -2015 Accomplishments
• Safety Officer position was elevated and the group
centralized to report directly to the Deputy General
Manager
• Significantly reduced the amount of Safety Suggestions
backlog
• Conducted CalOSHA Compliance Training for Managers
and Supervisors
• Completed five -year fire alarm and sprinkler testing and
participated in Fire Life Safety Gap Assessment of
Martinez
• Conducted evacuation drills for Martinez and CSO
2014 -2015 Accomplishments
• Following Safety Directives were created /updated:
— Chemical Hygiene Plan
— Asbestos Compliance Program
— Heat Illness Prevention Program
— Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Program
— Ergonomic Program
• Safety training completed since January 2015:
— Conducted 79 safety classes
— 1,414 attendees were trained
— Total of 2,020 training hours
— Provided CaIOSHA Safety Compliance Training for Managers
and Supervisors

2015 Focus
• Organize and consolidate safety related records, tools,
and resources
• Assist Engineering with upgrading /repairing current fire,
life, safety systems
• Update the District's safety requirements language in
contracts and bid packets
• Review all safety forms for efficiencies and effectiveness
• Partnering with other groups to ensure adequate
emergency preparedness, incident tracking, etc.
• Continue addressing Safety Program assessment
findings from EORM and CSRMA.

2015 Focus
• Leverage systems and software to improve efficiency
and compliance
• Enhance customer service through:
— Increased visibility
— Contractor project oversight /design review
— Participation in a great number of tailgate meetings
— Attend more manager and departmental meetings
• Establish monthly metrics which include both leading
and lagging indicators (first aids, near misses,
inspections, findings, etc.)
