Succession Planning CommitteeSuccession Planning Committee July 6, 2015 Administration Committee Meeting Ad Succession Planning Committee (SPC) • Established in May 2014 under the direction of General Manager Roger Bailey • Objective: Develop a formal succession plan to maintain high service levels and prepare the District for future retirements and sudden changes to staffing • Approximately 30 members • Five sub - committees SPC Sub - Committees • Mentorship • Supervisory • Supergroup • Innovation and Research • Charter Succession Planning Committee Charter • Purpose • Structure and operations • Responsibilities and duties • Annual performance evaluation FY 2014 -15 Succession Planning KPI Plan • Key Performance Indicators for SPC's deliverables and goals • Will be shared with District staff, GM, and Board of Directors Accomplishments to Date • Completed Succession Planning Committee Charter • Established FY 2014 -15 Key Performance Indicator Plan • Involved in Raftelis' staffing assessment interview and provided feedback • Completed questionnaire to identify key job functions Objectives in Progress • Conducted research on other succession planning programs and resources • Completed preliminary research on mentoring and cross - training programs • Drafted a reference guideline for succession planning related sources and completed projects • Succession Planning Interviews Succession Planning Interviews 1) Purpose: help identify areas of risk due to potential employee departure and areas of improvement in the current organizational structure for meeting minimum qualifications 2) Interviews with all District workgroups scheduled for mid -July — August 3) Pre - Interview Assessment 1) Gap Analysis 2) Staffing Vulnerability Analysis 4) Final Report summarizing the results and recommendations from the Committee Proposed Objectives for FY 15/16 • Complete succession planning interviews and generate a summary report • Develop District -wide standard operating procedures template • Continue our efforts on: • Mentoring and cross - training programs • Innovation and research projects Questions? • Committee Chair Rita Cheng rchen�_entralsar3._org 925 - 957 -7630 • Committee Co -Chair Chris Carpenter f;garper)ter@qQntralsaii.org 925 - 229 -7316
