HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.a.1) GM Written Announcements�a Board Meeting of May 21, 2015 I Written Announcements: LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM a) Management Leadership Academy Completes 2014 -15 Program Program consultant, Larry Bienati, and 23 District employees celebrated completion of the District's seven -month Management Leadership Academy on May 5, 2015 at the Pleasant Hill Community Center. Applications were accepted last summer from those interested in committing to professional growth and development customized and facilitated by renowned professional Larry Bienati, who is passionate about developing leaders in the water and wastewater industry. The participants learned about themselves through 360 degree interviews with co- workers and developed action plans based on those findings. From modeling successful management, inspiring a vision, building a team, communication and influence, to getting the job done, the participants were impacted by the variety of presentations and facilitators that included a former Navy Seal (the guys really like those stories.) Congratulations to these participants as they put into action the tools and lessons learned to become leaders and mentors for the future of the District. COCO SAN SUSTAINABLE FARM b) Recap of Drought and Urban Farming Event held May 8, 2015 AgLantis and the District hosted over 200 guests at a successful event to discuss recycled water and sustainable living on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Coco San Sustainable Farm site. Congressman Mark DeSaulnier and Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla spoke to the audience about the effects of California's drought and in support of local sustainable agriculture. The Congressman was even seen sporting a CentralSan recycled water cap at the event to avoid the sun. Approximately 30 elected officials and other dignitaries were in attendance. The program was run by Dr. Carolyn Phinney and Board President Mike McGill. The program concluded with a presentation by Melody LaBella, who spoke on the District's sustainability initiatives including the household hazardous waste facility, pharmaceutical drop off locations, and integrated pest management practices. She also provided recycled water training for the audience.
