HomeMy WebLinkAbout06.a.1) (Handout) Additional General Manager AnnouncementXdd) Board Meeting of May 7, 2015 Additional Written Announcements: RECENT EARTHQUAKE ACTIVITY f) Recent Earthquakes Cause No Damage to District Facilities In the past week there have been six earthquakes greater than 2.5 on the Concord fault. • 5/3/15 — 3:13 pm — 3.6 magnitude at a depth of 13.2 km • 5/3/15 — 3:14 pm — 3.0 magnitude at a depth of 12.8 km • 5/4/15 — 6:52 pm — 2.8 magnitude at a depth of 12.8 km • 5/6/15 — 7:01 am — 3.2 magnitude at a depth of 13.9 km • 5/6/15 — 7:32 am — 3.6 magnitude at a depth of 14.5 km • 5/6/15 — 7:35 am — 2.7 magnitude at a depth of 14.5 km The first three quakes were located near the Monument Boulevard and Detroit Avenue areas of Concord. The quakes on May 6 were all located one mile south - southwest of downtown Concord and two miles northeast of Pleasant Hill. After the earthquake on Sunday afternoon, there was an EBMUD water main break reported near the intersection of North Main Street and Geary Road in Walnut Creek. The break was located about four miles from the quake's epicenter, and was reported about an hour after the quake. The main was a 12 -inch steel line installed in 1963. Other than potentially causing the water main break, there were no reports of damage from the quakes. CSO and the Treatment Plant reported no problems.
