Board Meeting of April 2, 2015 Written Announcements: OUT -OF -STATE CONFERENCE a) Employees to Attend California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Annual Conference in San Diego, CA, from April 28 — May 1, 2015 The California Water Environment Association's (CWEA) 87th Annual Conference will be held at the San Diego Town and Country Resort from April 28 through May 1, 2015. A total of 15 employees will be attending from the District. Employees are attending for a variety of purposes: • To attend the Collection System Committee and workshops, • To serve on the Safety Committee and judge team challenges, To serve as presenters. In addition, this conference will provide the opportunity to connect and build relationships with other water and wastewater professionals from around the state in a time where the District is looking to collaborate with other agencies on "Plant of the Future" projects. It also allows attendees to speak directly with exhibitors who offer the latest technologies and advances in the industry. ENERGY CONSUMPTION b) Quarterly Update on the District's Energy Consumption In late 2014, the Engineering & Operations Committee suggested that staff provide quarterly updates on the District's monthly energy consumption in the form of a written announcement. The first such quarterly update is attached. AWARDS AND COMMENDATIONS c) District Receives Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the District by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2014. This is the fifteenth consecutive year the District has received this award, which is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting Written Announcements April 2, 2015 Page 2 of 2 and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement is awarded to the individual(s), departments or agency designated by the government as primarily responsible for preparing the award - winning CAFR. The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. The award will be presented to the Board President at a future meeting. The letter from GFOA announcing the award is attached.
