HomeMy WebLinkAbout07.a.3) Consider waiving performance evaluation of General Manager7a. 3 1 Central Contra Costa Sanitary District October 2, 2014 TO: HONORABLE BOARD OF DIRECTORS VIA: DAVID HEATH, DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION b X FROM: TEJI O'MALLEY, HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER SUBJECT: GENERAL MANAGER PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL In 2008, the Board adopted Resolution No. 2008 -111 (copy attached), which established biennial performance appraisals every other October for the District's Executive Management Team. Section 4.24.030 of the District Code states that the Executive Management Team consists of the Secretary of the District, District Counsel, and the General Manager. The employment contract between the General Manager and the District calls for an annual performance evaluation, which was recently completed in August of 2014. Therefore, staff is requesting direction from the Board as to whether the requirement to conduct a performance appraisal of the General Manager in October 2014 may be waived. Staff will be available to answer any questions during the Board meeting. Attached Supporting Document. 1. Resolution No. 2008 -111 C:\ Users \danderson\AppData \Local \Microsoft \Windows \Temporary Internet Files \Content.Outlook \DVCG8C5G \Memo -GM Performance Review (2).docx ATTACHMENT 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2008 -111 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING BIENNIAL PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS FOR MEMBERS OF THE CENTRAL CONTRA COSTA SANITARY DISTRICT EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM WHEREAS, the Executive Management Team of the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District consists of the General Manager, District Counsel and Secretary of the District, as defined in Section 4.24.030 of the District Code; and WHEREAS, the members of the Executive Management Team report directly to the Board of Directors of the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District; and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors has determined that each member of the Executive Management Team should receive a performance appraisal from the Board of Directors every two years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: 1. As defined in Section 4.23.030 of the District Code, the Executive Management Team consists of the General Manager, District Counsel, and Secretary of the District. 2. Performance appraisals by the Board of Directors for each member of the Executive Management Team will be scheduled automatically in October of each even - numbered year. 3. The Board of Directors may, if desired, schedule additional, interim performance appraisals of any member of the Executive Management Team.
