d) Public Bidding for Survey Monument Replacement, District
Contract No. 41799
The District uses contractors to restore survey monuments that have been removed
during construction projects. Survey monuments are structures used to by surveyors to
perpetuate property boundaries. Surveyors rely on them to prepare property descriptions
and to locate points in the field. State law requires their replacement when they are
removed. The monuments are removed during sewer construction projects where the
replacement sewer is designed thru the monuments location — both tend to be located in
the middle of roads.
District staff has prepared a Request for Bid to set a unit price for replacement of
monuments. The contract will be advertised July 7 and 14, 2014. The bids will be
opened July 22, 2014. The cost of the contract is currently estimated at $75,000 for a
typical year and will be paid for by the Collection System Program in the Fiscal Year
2014 -15 Capital Improvement Budget.
