Subject: ADOPT A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT OF EASEMENT
RELATED TO THE DIABLO SEWER RENOVATIONS, PHASE 2,
DISTRICT PROJECT 5976, FOR PROPERTY LOCATED IN DIABLO, AND
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A QUITCLAIM DEED AND
RECORDING OF THE GRANT OF EASEMENT AND QUITCLAIM DEED

ISSUE: A resolution of the Board of Directors is required to accept an easement, to
execute a quitclaim deed, and to record the documents.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt a resolution accepting a grant of easement, authorizing
the execution of a quitclaim deed, and authorizing staff to record the documents with
the Contra Costa County Recorder.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS: A total of $86,300 has already been paid to five property
owners for permanent easements related to the Diablo Sewer Renovations Project,
Phase 2 (District Project 5976). One additional permanent easement from Joseph and
Marguerite Slavonia is required. The purchase price of $3,750 brings the total cost for
permanent easements to $90,050 for this project.

ALTERNATIVES /CONSIDERATIONS: None.
BACKGROUND: When the District replaces or renovates sewer lines, the alignment of
the new pipe does not always align perfectly with existing District easements. When
this occurs, the District must modify or acquire new easements to coordinate with the
location of the new lines. Correspondingly, some existing easements may no longer be
needed, in which case the District quitclaims them back to the property owners.

AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A QUITCLAIM DEED AND
RECORDING OF THE GRANT OF EASEMENT AND QUITCLAIM DEED
As part of the Diablo Sewer Renovations Project, Phase 2 (District Project 5976), the
District installed and rehabilitated approximately 9,350 feet of 6 -, 8 -, 10- and 12 -inch
sewer pipe by open cut, pipe bursting, and horizontal directional drilling methods. A
total of six new easements were acquired for this project. One additional easement was
acquired post construction.
Board action is needed to accept the grant of easement, execute a quitclaim deed for
an existing District easement that is no longer needed above.
RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION: Adopt a resolution: (1) Accepting a grant of
easement related to the Diablo Sewer Renovations, Phase 2, District Project 5976,
from the property owner of the parcels Fisted in the attached proposed resolution; and,
(2) Authorizing staff to record the documents with the Contra Costa County Recorder.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CENTRAL CONTRA COSTA SANITARY DISTRICT
ACCEPTING AND RECORDING A GRANT OF EASEMENT
RELATED TO THE DIABLO SEWER RENOVATIONS, PHASE 2, DISTRICT PROJECT 5976
AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION AND RECORDING OF A QUITCLAIM DEED
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District
(District) as follows:
THAT the District hereby accepts a Grant of Easement (Sewer Purposes) from the following
property owners related to the Diablo Sewer Renovations, Phase 2, District Project 5976:
